timelessmoviemagic has been very fortunate to offer you this original Don Ameche signed photo from the Dorothy Poynton-Hill collection.

It is more than possible that Don herself gave this card to her as many stars attended her club.
For more information on this go to our
blog. This photo is not a hand signed autograph. It is a pre-printed signature. These were mainly handed out by the stars to fans in the 1940s.

This 7" x 5" signed photograph of Don Ameche is in Fine condition. It was carefully removed from the album, there is some album paper on the back in some of the four corners.

About Dorothy Poynton-Hill

When Dorothy Poynton won the silver medal in the 1928 Olympic springboard, she had barely passed her 13th birthday and set the record of being the youngest U.S. Olympic medalist in history. In 1932 she won the Olympic highboard and in 1936, as Mrs. Hill, she became the first woman to defend an Olympic highboard title as well as winning a bronze medal in the springboard.
Among U.S. women divers only Georgia Coleman and Pat McCormick have equalled Dorothy Poynton-Hill’s record of winning four Olympic medals. Only Paula Myers-Pope has matched her performance of winning medals at three different Olympics.
Poynton-Hill made several television commercials, won seven AAU titles and after her competitive retirement, operated her own aquatic club in Los Angeles.

The aquatic club in Los Angeles was a popular one for the famous film stars of the 40's and 50's. Dorothy taught many of the stars and their kids how to swim and was on first hand talking terms with many of them.

I have been carefully removing these true pieces of film memorabilia from the leather album in the last few weeks and will be listing many other autographs. In total there are over 30 signed photos including Lauren Bacall, Errol Flynn, Joan Crawford, Edward G Robinson, Barbara Stanwyck, Ida Lupino, Carol Landis,
Tyrone Power and Vivien Leigh.

The provenance of this album is what makes this and the other items unique. This is a collection held by Dorothy and then her family.

A true USA Olympic great!

There are a total of 77 photos in this collection including; Bogart, Gene Tierney, Deanna Durbin, Hedy Lamaar, Alan Ladd, Margaret Lockwood, Judy Garland, Shirley Temple and Claude Rains.

I will be offering them to fan
s and collectors alike so if you are interested in any of the above but can't see them listed then please contact me.

You don't want to miss out on such a rare opportunity to own a piece of this unique collection!
